What information do I need to call Tele-Serve?
You must have your Social Security Number (SSN) and your 4-digit PIN ready. If you are certifying, have your records of weekly work-search activities available as the system may prompt for details.
How do I establish or reset my Tele-Serve PIN?
Call 312-338-4337 and Press 4 from the main menu. You will be asked to verify personal identity markers to reset or create a new PIN. Never share this PIN with anyone, including individuals claiming to be IDES representatives.
Can I file my initial unemployment claim by phone?
No. Tele-Serve is for weekly certifications and status checks only. Initial claims must be filed online at IDES.Illinois.gov or via a scheduled in-person appointment at a local workforce office.
What happens if I miss my certification day?
If you miss your Monday-Wednesday window, you can use the Thursday or Friday "Open Certification" period via Tele-Serve. If you miss the entire week, your claim may be suspended, requiring a manual eligibility interview.
Does Tele-Serve tell me my payment amount?
